2. Rails

The next on our list will be a Steampunk-themed bar & lounge, located at the heart of Tanjong Pagar, Aptly named, Rails was inspired by the now-closed Tanjong Pagar Railway station and Jinrikisha Station, a historical site that was once a central depot for Rickshaws.
A Phat Cat Collective, which is behind the arcade-themed bars, NINETEEN80 & Pinball Wizard, initially established to open Rails as a bar & dance club during April 2020. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had to change their plans and open up as a dining & drinking spot instead.
Despite the unintended change, the new vintage drinking spot still managed to set things back on track, pun intended. The entrance is designed like a vintage elevator shuttered with steel scissors gates, leading into a concave tunnel wall, making up the moody bar and lounge area. Guests will feel like they are being transported to a Victorian-era underground railway, reminiscent of the famous Harry Potter's Platform 9 3/4.
They also have an array of adventurous cocktails named after iconic railways. Such as El Chepe ($22), named after the famous Mexican railway, combining mezcal, tequila blanco, yuzu, raw honey and lemon blend.
The next stop is the Jinrikisha Spritzer ($18), a medicinal take on the gin spritzer with a traditional rejuvenation of house-made honey-fermented lemon, preserved lime peel and coconut water.
Follow by a namesake book inspired dark potion, the Murder On The Orient Express ($25), which should be your go-to order. Combined with a liquorice lace of absinthe and vibrant notes of pineapple and orange.

Looking for some chow to go along with your cocktails? Located within Rails is Chix Hot Chicken, the famed fried chicken joint opened by local singer Taufik Batisah. Although specialising in Nashville style fried chicken, the menu consists of burgers such as the Soul Slider ($10.90), a boneless fried chicken sandwich in chic pink sauce between buttered burger buns, and Dirty Taters, a cheese loaded tater tot side dish. Classic pub grubs. Meat alternative dishes such as Quorn can also be found here.

3. Employees Only

The last on our list (but definitely not the least) is the New York-inspired, Employees Only Singapore Bar, located at Telok Ayer. New York City's Employees Only brought its ideology over to Singapore and opened up in June 2016, allowing Singaporeans to finally have a taste of their famous cocktails. Seemingly hidden from plain sight, the entrance of the bar is a room filled with a crimson glow and framed with draping curtains, finished with a glowing red neon sign saying "Psychic" shining through the glass.

Enter through the door, and you will find the small lettering "EMPLOYEES ONLY" located above a red curtain. Inside, a classic New York bar and dining atmosphere greets you.
